OUR STORY
WEVALET’s journey began in 2017 when brothers Roshan and Dilshan Weerasinghe started working as valet attendants for a Staten Island-based valet company. With their shared love for cars, the job was more than just work—it was fun and fulfilling. For Roshan, it was a part-time gig while balancing high school, as he had just turned 17. This experience became more than just a job; it was an early lesson in discipline and determination.
By 18, Roshan had achieved a significant milestone—purchasing his dream car, a BMW 335is, entirely from his own earnings. Reflecting on those early days, Roshan shares:
“Being a valet attendant taught me some of the most valuable life skills. It showed me that hard work pays off, and it also helped me understand people better. One simple hack I learned on the job has stuck with me: always do the hard work first. At valet shifts, I’d park the first few cars at the back of the lot, leaving closer spots for the rush later. It made the shift much smoother. I’ve trained all my employees with this mindset, and I truly believe life works in the same way—lay the groundwork early to make the rest easier.”
In 2020,
When the pandemic caused widespread business closures, the valet company Roshan worked for had shut down. As restaurants reopened in the summer, one of the location owners personally reached out to Roshan and Dilshan, asking them to handle valet services directly. Starting with just that one account, Roshan built relationships and expanded the business. By 2024, WEVALET had grown to over 10 consistent accounts spanning Staten Island, Brooklyn, and New Jersey.
Roshan considers one of his greatest achievements to be the team he has built:
“What I’m most proud of is being able to employ my staff – some of which include my closest friends. Watching this company grow from two employees to over 20 in just four years is incredible. Many of these employees are my personal friends who joined along the way, and they’ve stayed. My team is what makes this business so rewarding and keeps me motivated to grow it further. Everyone here knows they’re contributing to something bigger, and I take pride in fostering that sense of community.”
Today, WEVALET isn’t just a business—it’s a reflection of hard work, dedication, and the power of building strong relationships. From small beginnings to consistent growth, the company continues to thrive, providing exceptional valet services across the tri-state area.
